Things are officially out of control thanks to Iowa's explosive offense. I never thought I would find myself describing the Iowa offense as anything other than sloth-like, but here I am. Another pick, and the booth team is calling for Evridge. Screw that, it's time to let a few others guys have a shot. On any given D.1 college team, half the players probably played QB in high school. Let's mix it up. We're now at that part of the game where the booth relentlessly praises the Iowa players. Did you know Shonn Greene is the strongest and fastest running back in the Big Ten? Keep the superlatives coming fellas. If someone doesn't call him a god amongst men by the end of the game, I'm going to be disappointed.
Ok, so Tolzien is in now and touchdown!

ok guess what all you idiots out there defending bielma all i have to say is look at the results of this game. Iowa is NOT a good team. We are just making them look good. It looks like the players don't give a crap and why should they because Bielma dosen't give a crap either. Alvarez needs to fire his ass now i mean now as in bielma gets his own ride home after the game and Barry takes over as a interim coach. actualy bielma can stay in Iowa for all i care then he can show of his tattoo again.
Bret has one bad year and all of a sudden fire him!? Barry had a horrible year in 2001 when Randle El and Indiana STOMPED the badgers by dang near 50 points. Every year is not going to be a great year. Peaks and valleys. Nobody had a problem with his first 2 years and superb record...florida bowl game twice along with 2 bowl wins they were predicted to lose. Bandwagon jumping fans. Way to be there for your team when they need you most. And #1 party school!? what a joke. None of you chumps go out to party. Not on the weekends and for sure not on the weekdays. Wisconsin students and fans got soft...not the team.
We have a QB name Tolzien? Wasn't he a famous poet?
Figures....
Also - read 2 posts up, the person defending Bret. He has TWO bowl wins?? I missed one.
Can somebody please send me the tape of that one? I'm dying to see some BADGER FOOTBALL !!!
Uh, we all knew the 2001 team was not going to be very good. No one expected anything. It was a disaster, but not too far off from a 7-8 win season most people thought would happen. Nah, the 2000 team was a disappointment.
I didn't know we had two bowl wins...I thought Tennessee beat us last year. And it was 62 points.
Yeah, as for the comment that "not every year is going to be a great year"....then how is it that Ohio State and Michigan (except for this season) manage to pull out some pretty good seasons...you know, Big Ten Titles, BCS games....
And maybe everyone doesn't go drink themselves stupid because they actually have shit to do...you know, like study, the reason why people are in college.
Getting beat 38-16 by a mediocre team is pretty bad if you ask my opinion. If it was 14-10, that's "well, its the Big Ten" type of game. But 38-16 smacks of we 1) either played a really good team (not the case) or 2) the Badger coaching staff and players have mailed it in...big time.
Yay!
Question...
If Bielema is fired. Who are you guys going to get to replace him? Ty Willingham? Terry Bowden? Be careful what you wish for (Larry Coker/Miami, Frank Solich/Nebraska, Lloyd Carr/Michigan, etc). Consistent with the situation of your quarterback today, if Barry comes back and that doesn't work out, what then??! I highly doubt Barry is going to risk tarnishing his legacy to return to coaching in such a volatile, and unpredictable situation. I respect Barry and what he did for the Badgers and the Big Ten. But times must, and always do change.
It'd be great to actually see a list start to formulate that consists of viable candidates who can achieve the elite level of success you guys are trying to reach.
Any ideas?
"It'd be great to actually see a list start to formulate that consists of viable candidates who can achieve the elite level of success you guys are trying to reach.?"
WE'RE TALKING ABOUT BEING COMPETETIVE.
So I'll take that as, even coming up with ONE guy on that list is harder than what you might have thought.
A Top 10 national ranking, beating a Top 25 team on the road in Fresno State, your first two losses were by a combined 6 points (only 2 field goals), only to face Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State on three consecutive Saturdays for the first time in the Conference's history!!! I'd say that's competitive. Unless you feel as though its not. Then once again, start a list to see who can take you to where you guys want to go.
Feel free to put yourself down on the list if you feel it necessary. But once again the key word mentioned was viable, so brainstorm with caution.
The evidence is in the score board. Bielema just doesn't cut it. What we see on the score board is evidence of not making current performance through play calls, player slotting, and use of current assets. But the real damage is that these underlying assets still have some Barry in the mix. The more we let Bielema continue, the deeper the serious damage. A classic case of promoting to a level they aren't ready for; Barry is an AD who was a great coach but set himself up to fail by so strongly endorsing Bielema that he can back down and take action himself. It's time they both go; or this situation is going to flush more than Kolher...
How about this: I don't get paid 600,000 to 1 million dollars to hire coaches. What I do get is to do is complain on this website. I get the right to complain on this website about an unproven coach making millions of dollars. I get the right to type Wisconsin Badger Football is going the wrong direction fast. I get to complain that Cal Poly is a joke when they already had a decent game scheduled. I get to complain that this is the worst Michigan has ever been in their history, so that loss is a crock.
Where we want to go is some better non-conference games, a less arrogant coach and one the players don't quit on, and competetive football. I never ever complained about any down years under Alvarez because the team always played hard and Alvarez had proven himself. Play Va Tech next time you chickens in the AD and stop mugging the fans just because you are the only game in town.
If you want Bielema fired then you are stupid. he set a record season winning 12 games and has taken wisconsin to 2 new years day bowl games. they would be stupid to fire him and there not that stupid
This is the same crap Houston Nutt had to put up with at Arkansas he took them to the sec championship game in 2006 then a new years day bowl and another new years day bowl in 2007 and that still wasnt good enough
Who cares who they hire. Just hire somebody who has had success on some college level who has a history of some kind in the college ranks. It is obvious Bielema has lost control of his team. That they have quit on him and the other coaches. So many badger fans have lost all objective rather than face the reality this coach sucks. He lost to team in Michigan who was/is so bad that they lost to Toledo a bad mid-american. You watch if the badger win two more games (#indiana & cal poly) they will be lucky. That puts them at 5-7. That is a total collapse from a year ago with basically the same personnel. Most other div 1 coaches would be fired less than that.
what about barry alvarez's collapse in 2001 when he went 5-7? that was okay though. wisconsin can still go to a bowl game
Fire Bielma, hire the Texas Tech offensive coach to lead the Badgers...
