Shoot him like a hor...oh crap, it's a badger
Farewell Travis Beckum. It wasn't until later on Saturday when I had a chance to see the replay the het that the extent of the injury became apparent. This is a terrible end to what was otherwise a magnificent career. We may disagree on many topics, but all sports fans can agree on the unjustness of a season-ending injury. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Travis. With any luck, this injury will not hinder Travis' NFL career. Travis, you were a Badger for the ages, and you will be missed.

I had to see this to believe it. So there are some fans in Whisky who want to abandon ship at the first sign of a little swell. Not surprising given the fact that in todays society if your not perceived by everyone as the second coming or haven't won a National Championship in your first four years there are plenty of cowards out there to tell you how much of a failure you are.
Your team is having a rough season so hey, we have to blame someone.
Fire the coach you say. There must be a fire Rich Rodriguez site out there by now too. I failed to notice BB drop a pass this season, or miss a block or a tackle. Did BB miss an extra point or a field goal. Did BB throw an interception? did he have a fumble? Do ya think BB missed a meeting or a practice or a stinking recruiting trip? If he did please point it out to me cause I must have missed it.
Fire the Coach... Thats the answer right. Forget the fact that he is an outstanding recruiter and prior to his hire to Whisky he could have basically booked his "Coaching Ticket" to any freakin school on the country. Lets forget all of that because today, in sports as in buisness there is no "Loyalty" like the loyalty BB has for the Badger program. Each and every person calling for BB's Job on this site is as about as Dis-Loyal as you can get. To what purpose does this site serve? A Bulletin Board for a bunch of Piss-Ants and Shoe Clerks who never wore a Jock in their life and have no concept of what it is like to Compete in "Daylight" in front of a stadium full of people.
Fire the Coach... What a JOKE! I am sure that if it is humanly possible to fix any problems that your program is havine BB is capable of doing it and I have every confidence that he will find a way to get it done. The fact of the matter is that Wisconsin is a lot more like Iowa and Illinois then Michigan or Ohio State or LSU or Florida or USC in the sense that you can't compete with the overall quality of talent that those programs possess year in and year out. What do your recruiting classes rank? Sure every 3 or 4 years you should have an excellent team because the talent has been developed but the problem is that when the talent graduates there is a wider void to fill then at the Upper echelon schools. To explain it to the uneducated football fans flooding this site I would put it like this. How many Badgers could start today for any of the top 10 teams? 1 maybe 2? Now how many top 10 schools have a better second team player then your starter.. Quite a few. Thats the cold hard facts. The point is, You should support your team even more when they have a down year and when they have a 10 win season you should really count your blessings. There is not a person in your Athletic Department who's not giving it 100 percent every day to be the best and that goes from the A.D. to the student trainer. My question to all of you is basically this.
Are you proud of every thing you do every minute of the day, proud enough to share it with a stadium full of people each week? Thats right. Thats what that coaching staff and players are asked to do and they do it willingly knowing that there are always going to be a bunch of Piss Ants and Shoe Clerks out there playing monday morning Q.B.
Are your smart enough to know the difference them and YOU? The difference is they are men, not boys hiding behind a computer.
Every time someone uses the comment "pissant" I think of the character H. Lowe Crosby in Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle.
I personally enjoy giving snide comments when it comes to D-1 athletics. It's one of the biggest shams in the world. I always wonder where those millions made during bowl games really go. I wonder if anyone realizes that the football factories really do not care any actual progress towards a degree for their players...despite the nice PC comments in the press.
Loyalty? Why should I be loyal to Brett Bielema? Just because he coaches at my alma mater does not mean that I am compelled to kowtow to his greatness or whatever adjectives attached to his name.
But I guess its just dandy to allow a coach, someone who really adds nothing to society other than his winning record in football (so, what really is the graduation rate for football players at UW Madison? I'm quite sure we're not in the top 25 there), to run amok at the bars on his weekend dalliances.
But I keep seeing that loyalty comment by 2 cents...I guess it is hard not to have loyalty when the head coaching job is dropped in your lap a season before the former head coach moves up the AD spot.
I am not compelled to support the Badgers. Why should I? If they win, fine. If they lose, I have a good laugh and remembered those moments when I would walk faster to class than two fat ass linemen packed on a moped straining to maintain forward momentum. Indeed, world class athletes.
I abandoned the ship of Wisconsin football long ago after several encounters with the football players themselves--I was less than impressed. This was during Barry Alvarez's tenure, but I doubt much has changed.
You know what is a real joke? Why a public school football stadium needs luxury box seats. Why the same athletic department eliminated a facility inside the bowels of Camp Randall used by campus organizations that bring much more money to the campus than the athletic department. Why the same school decided to up a coach having one good season salary to $1.4 million per year.
Pissants...nice. Shoe Clerks. I'm not sure 99% of the people who frequent this website would understand that pre-1960s slang.
Anyone who calls Wisconsin "Whisky" should be shot where they stand. Nobody says that here.
12 knots, I couldn't agree with you more! I went to Badger football games for years, still go to an occasional hockey game, but I'll tell you, I enjoy high school sports and D-3 college sports much more. And still love the NFL because there are no pretenses as to what they are there for: to make money playing football. D-1 college sports ARE a sham, and quite honestly I enjoy watching the Badgers lose. And I also enjoy yanking the chains of all these red polyester doofuses (doofi?) who absoluetly live for anything cardinal and white. Poke poke poke. Poke 'em with a stick!
everybody calls wisconsin wisky, have u ever been to a game at camp randall? look in the aisles and bathroom stalls after a game you will see countless bottles of wisky/brandy/rum some people even call camp randall wisky stadium
Actually, I thought everyone now called Wisconsin "'Sconnie" these days. I always thought that Whisky was used exclusively for the USS WISCONSIN...something much more impressive than the Badger football team.
I can't say that I actively cheer for the Badgers to lose games...I remember when I wa a die hard as an undergrad...that was until I realized there was more to the world than getting hammered on State Street and an average football program.
some people call us wisky some call us wiscy
I've lived in WI my entire life (currently Madison), went to school for undergrad and grad in Madison, and have gone to dozens of football and basketball games here. The only places I've ever seen anyone call Wisconsin "Whisky" is on message boards. I have never even heard it spoken at a game or on campus. Everybody uses it?...Hardly.
i have seen alot of people wear shirts that say sconnie, what does that mean?
From what I've seen, the whole SCONNIE thing is a creation of someone meant to take some of the money UW makes on licensing by making up a word and creating shirts just different enough from licensed versions as to not provoke a lawsuit. They have some things that are related to the state in general and not the university too. I happen to think it's stupid, but it is getting somewhat popular, and you can't argue with success.
i have season tickets and i have heard a few visiting team fans call camp randall wisky stadium. and if you have been to a badger game you will know why they call it that
Until I visited this website I have never hard Camp Randall called whisky stadium
