It is probably too early to really consider any change at the top, but some assistants will surely be taking the fall for this season. Besides, firing Bielema assumes that the proud Alvarez would be willing to admit he wiffed on this one. I feel bad for the season ticket holders that are paying prime rib prices for boloney sandwiches.

I somewhat disagree that the Badgers talent is overrated - they ARE undercoached. (I feel overall the starting defensive players may be the best they have ever had.) They have not been ready to compete in any of their bowl games since Bielema took over. The offensive play calling is truly offensive, and has been for several seasons. End arounds, double reverses, the option !!!??? That is not Badger football. The entire playbook (and coaching staff) that has been used this season should be scrapped! I can see that Clay cannot block and doesn't know the playbook , they have not started a QB that could even be called competent and that ends are drop prone. Still, there are glimpses of talent that one might believe could be successful with good coaching and a strategy based, hardnosed play book and attitude. Take a look at the successful teams in the Big12 and some of the other conferences that are not SEC or PAC 10. They have series of plays, building off each other, not simply gimmick plays (end arounds, reverses) and unpracticed "surprise" plays, like the option. I understand talent can sometimes dictate the playbook but who brought in most of the talent? And the special teams play has been the worst I can remember. The defense often seems to be completly surprised at what the other teams runs on offense. HOW CAN THIS BE !!!??? Time for an entire coaching change. I cannot go back to watching and listening to Badger games that remind ne of the Morton years and beyond. Hoping for just a single touchdown or fieldgoal against any and all opponents. Bottom line it's time (past time? ) for a change

Okay, what I meant was a football version of the Big Ten-ACC challenge. It would be pretty neat if it was the SEC-Big Ten challenge---Northwestern vs Vandy, Michigan vs Alabama, Ohio State vs Auburn, Wisconsin vs Florida, Penn State vs LSU, Iowa vs South Carolina etc etc. Comon' now tell me that would not be interesting to watch.

I'm sure Pete Carroll would welcome the challenge to come to Camp Randall...

I've always wondered why we never play Notre Dame (apparently they did that a lot until the 1950s), Missouri (nearby), Nebraska (okay, probably not that impressive anymore)...I wonder why the Big Ten has not joined the Big 12 or the SEC for a Big Ten-School Challenge as well. If the SEC is as awesome as they believe they are, then they shouldn't worry about not scheduling teams like the Citadel (almost as bad as Murray State in 1999). Scheduling cupcakes is a malady that all of the major BCS schools suffer from, because the boosters want to see a big blowout.

Barry Alvarez is clever. After they lose to Wofford next year, he will have the cover necessary to fire Bielema.

Combined with mediocre Big Ten matchups, next year's home schedule should be considered felony mugging of the fans. Remarkable that people stand for it, no big ten title for last ten years, no hope at competing with top teams (much less a national championship, ha), and no fan friendly interesting matchups. Have Badger fans watched Big 12 or SEC football, shocking the difference from head to bottom in the conferences and the fans get to see real football almost the whole season.

I LOVE this blog! I can't believe some of the angry comments. It's obvious that we cannot return to the Don Morton days and real Badger football fans are just afraid of seeing that happen. We have every right to be worried and express our views about Bret's coaching ability (or lack thereof). I can't wait to see what happens in Iowa! Go Bucky!

I find it very interesting that the NFL offers HD quality games streamed online for people living overseas, but not college football. I guess no one overseas likes football.
