Bielema just doesn't cut it. What we see on the score board is evidence of not making current performance through play calls, player slotting, and use of current assets. But the real damage is that these underlying assets still have some Barry in the mix. The more we let Bielema continue, the deeper the serious damage. A classic case of promoting to a level they aren't ready for; Barry is an AD who was a great coach but set himself up to fail by so strongly endorsing Bielema that he can back down and take action himself. Just because Jon Budmayr is hurt doesn't mean squat. He had a heck of a year last year, if he hadn't gotten hurt he would be a 4*. Bielema has lowered the standard of this program and doesn't even approach a kid like Terrelle Pryor when the kid couldn't make up his mind last Spring. Bielema brings in unrated and 1-star or 2-star players into his camp, and those are the players he recruits. Maybe he dips into Florida or Texas to grab some kid who can't catch or can't tackle. Maybe the coaches share this, because they don't seem to chase the really top guys. It's early in the Bret era but I only see a few of his guys contributing. You saw it last year when he refused to play anyone else at QB other than Donavan even when games were out of hand or in control. Yes. Fire the coach? No. I had season tickets from 1966 to 2005 - you have no idea what "bad" football is. In the late 60's no crowds to cheer - the crowd and the players did not even know how to act when they beat Iowa after losing 23 games. All things in life go through cycles - we will all get through this and we will see better times. My family can no longer go to games because of one's health issues - but if we didn't have that issue - we'd still be there to support the team and coach. These are very young people still learning - some are more coachable than others. Yes, the Badgers are 3-3 and may be destined for a "who cares" bowl or none at all. And yes, the coaching performance this year can be questioned, just as it was in 1995 when the Badgers were blown out by Colorado en route to a five loss season (well ok - 4 losses and a 3-3 tie with IL and no bowl game). And, in 1996 when the Badgers lost four in a row. In 2001 the Badgers lost 7 games including giving up 63 points at home to IU! How about in 1997 when they got murdered by Syracuse and then lost big to Purdue, Penn State and Georgia. How about 2002 for you? Yup, the Badgers lost six games that year! And then there was 2003. The men in red lost six games including getting thumped at home by UNLV! Ok, 2004 was a little better except for the two regular season poundings the Badgers took - lost by 35 to MSU and 23 to Iowa before getting beat up by Georgia in the bowl game. The last year I will bring up is 2005, which had a good ending but also included a loss to Northwestern (gave up 51 points) and a horrible last BA home game loss to Iowa.<BR/><BR/>My point here is that Barry Alvarez led the Badgers to three Rose Bowls and other assorted bowl game wins. Even throwing out his first few seasons in which he started to rebuild the program, he still had some poor seasons at the helm and his teams had some terrible losses. I don't recall, though, hearing people whine like I am now about changes that need to be made with the coaching staff and incredibly stupid websites calling for the coach to be fired. The fact is that this program will cycle up and down mostly due to inability to get the huge recruiting classes like OSU, Penn State and others. Give it time, but one year doesn't spell the demise of this program. Just as BA changed his approach, his coaching staff, his recruiting targets, etc., so will Bret. <BR/> <BR/>I hope you liked your history lesson.
